Movin' On

cey

It's 2016 and lots of things are changing at College Street Cottage.  The Mr. and Misses a.k.a. Richard and Lynne made a big decision that will affect all of the cast of characters i.e. Honey Bunny, the new siamese cat Lilly Girl, the new dog Cotton and the new chickens and most important ME...Goosey Lucey
Kuiper came by and talk
Three weeks ago an Australian man named Andrew ed to Lynne and Richard about building them a new house in Richard's garden spot next door to the cottage.  He must have said all the right things because a week later a big bulldozer started clearing the lot and a big sign went up next to me exclaiming that College Street Cottage is FOR SALE!!!  I immediately when to my friend Honey Bunny to ask what she had heard in the backyard?  Did the chickens know anything, what about the dog and cat?  They too had no idea what in the world was happening and were as upset as me, the lone goose in the front yard.
I did notice lots of yard work happening and new plants in the pots on the shelf, the front porch was cleaned and Richard actually mowed, trimmed and swept the sidewalks in the same day.  Finally, I could not take the suspense any longer so when Lynne was changing my outfit and I had to go to the source for my answer.
I asked Lynne the big question..."Are you moving?" Lynne told me that she and Rich the have reached a time in life where the mowing, gardening and maintenance on the cottage is too much for them. "But what about the art cottage Richard built for you" I asked.  Lynne replied that she no longer needed the big art cottage but will have a big organized closet in a new sun room at the new house to do her crafting.  "And what about all those chickens?" I asked next. It seems that 5 of the chickens were re-homed to a friend last month so there are 8 chickens left who will have a new coup and smaller yard at the new house. "Okay, I said with a shaky voice, but what about Honey Bunny and I, will we be moving too?"  Lynne said that everybody in town is asking the same question. She said that I am an infamous part of Sulphur Springs culture and that Andrew will be scooping me up along with my friend Honey Bunny and taking us to our new place at 610 College Street.  I was more than a little relieved.  Lynne asked me if I had any other concerns?  "When will be moving to the new house?" I asked.  Lynne said they are hoping to be completely moved by August 1st so I will have a little time to adjust to the idea of moving.
Then Lynne proceeded to change my spring dress to the graduation cap and gown in honor of all senior graduating but especially for Sarah's daughter Rebecca Lynne Maddux.  Becca, as Lynne calls her, is graduating with honors from Sulphur Springs High School this Friday night.  Lynne said she has been busy since last summer creating a scrapbook picture album as her gift from her Grammy.  She also said that she is feeling Grammy type empty next as Becca will be going off to Texas State next fall with intentions of pursuing a career as a history teacher.  Lynne and Richard are proud as they can be but will miss her dearly.

Lynne said she had to get back to work because they have been showing the house non-stop. She said they are working hard to get rid of absolutely everything that in non-essential preparing to move to a 1000 square foot small house.
Lynne also said she would be out soon to tell me more about our new home. "One last question" I said.  "Will I have a new bikini this summer and what about one of those cute pink flamingos to keep me company?" I asked.  Lynne said not to worry, with more time in the new small low up-keep house, she is planning to sew me some new outfits instead of buying them from Gooseclothes.com!
As the head goose I can tell you that all is well at College Street Cottage and I will be keeping you updated on the progress of our new small home.

A note from Lynne:  I have not blog in over a year.  Of course blogspot.com has changed their entire way of laying out a blog.  Today I'm feeling lucky I was able to do this much.  I'm a year older and change is not easy!  Hope to hear from all of you so I know you received the link.
